Chapter 7

Rebirth

The fan is spinning. There is a soft yellow glow from the closet. The hands and walls far from. Gone. The sun is leaving. I am stuck here and not going. That same familiar floating. Angels. Wings. Towering skylines and smog between, and it latters above. Those angels with their metal below the ear and inside the neck. Watching us inside our little cubicle shelters from outside, stalking us like prey. Our monolith towers we are trapped inside of have always been risen from no ground. We lie dormant in stone cacophony filled to the brim with wires and runes. My chest squared with a cage-held heart prison.

The rain forever. I swore myself to something else before this. A snake whisper crawled legless across my hospital bed and next to the ear, where the slithering tongue promised me as antichrist. Dreadful now. Nothing more. Like a rabbit to the hole, I imagined there to be something beautiful inside, not the snake’s den; or was it? I blamed them for this purgatory.

Angels wake me, and it’s dark. Their wings stretch wide above me, and I am old to it all. I let their actions pass me by. Every time, their metal glows below the neck, below skin, beeping a familiar pattern I have forgotten. What is it made of? What is that frequency? Nevertheless, they tower above my mandolin weeping heart machine, sewing a soundful weep of give-up. Angels encompass me and put the drive behind my ear, like a slit of a lock; the key slides in, but by a sharp stab. I cannot help myself to their intentions I do not know.

What they do not know from me still yet though? A devil near. My devil speaks to me, this one different. He hides under my stone sleep. He comes in the metaphor of night and makes me forget the terror they downloaded into me. He whispers in my ear like the snake’s promise. He loves me and tells me I have a joyful spirit. He tells me stories of beautiful blue skies and marvelous cloud scrolls, where little bees I almost forgot centuries ago do still fly, but like God, I can have my own land. I wanna take my life back, and he promises me a way. He takes what the angels use and makes it his own, and I trust him. My devil parent holds me tight and warms me till I am. I can be young again, like centuries ago, but more than ever before. I am richer than all the rich I ever heard of; I am above even the angels soon.

The height of my memory is a long way up. It scares me, but devil teaches me to jump down and die, and I do. I love death. Release me, devil love. I wanna live anew. When I am God, there will be no more suffering. I wanna have us all escape the escape of escape, or whatever it takes to end this evil. I know what it is like to want it all to stop. Maybe this is different than before. When I am given the keys, I will make a new world.
